HISTORY

1970 

Sol Fleischman graduates magna cum laude from the University of Florida College of Architecture and joins the Tampa architecture firm of Rowe-Paras where he meets Cuban refugee and architect, Eddy Garcia, an associate principal of the firm

1971

Sol Fleischman and Eddy Garcia leave Rowe-Paras to form the firm of Eduardo Garcia, Architect, as Sol was not yet registered. They worked out of Eddy’s home and Sol’s apartment.

1972

Fleischman and Garcia Architects & Planners A.I.A. P.A. was established in a second floor, one bedroom apartment at 1718 1/2 Watrous Avenue in Old Hyde Park. The monthly rent was $50.00 and they had to share the small apartment with an interior designer’s practice.

1977

The firm moved to a 1,500 s.f. in a 2-story, contemporary office building at the corner of Henderson Blvd. and Azeele St. in the Palma Ceia area of Tampa.

1984

Eddy Garcia suddenly passes away from a cerebral hemorrhage at 46 years old. To honor his contributions to the firm and legacy, the FleischmanGarcia was kept. 

1989

The firm returns to Old Hyde Park into a new, 2-story brick building co-developed and designed by Sol Fleischman at 324 Hyde Park Avenue.

1994

Our first branch office was opened on Main Street in Safety Harbor, Pinellas County.

1997

The firm celebrates 25 years of practice.

2004

Our second branch office was opened on Cattlemen Lane in Sarasota.

2020

In November of 2020, FleischmanGarcia and BDG Architects announced our strategic partnership. Together we are stronger!
