FleischmanGarcia was retained to design a mixed-use office complex by Republic Bank and the Rutenberg Corporation.
The 42,000 sq. ft. Republic Bank Center is a mixed-use office complex housing the corporate headquarters for both Republic Bank and the Rutenberg Corporation. This was the first of many projects FleischmanGarcia designed for Charles Rutenberg, a prominent Pinellas County banker, businessman and developer.
Situated on a trapezoidal shaped site on U.S. 19 in Clearwater, Florida, the project called for an architecturally distinctive three-story office building to serve as the flagship headquarters for Republic Bank. It was a requirement that the drive-in banking facilities be placed in the front of the building along the main thoroughfare. The trapezoid-shaped site influenced the unusual configuration of the building. The design features an expansive bank lobby area, vault, drive-in teller facilities designed for six lanes, third floor exterior deck, speculative offices and a second floor mezzanine open to the first floor.
