Originally constructed in 1929 as the Davis Island Swimming Pool, this historic City of Tampa Landmark was closed due to code violations and safety issues by the City of Tampa in 2009.
As experts in the design of commercial pools and Mediterranean Revival structures, FleischmanGarciaMaslowski renovated the two-story structure, incorporated two new pools within the existing pool shell, provided a new entrance addressing Columbia Drive, added new restroom facilities, a new elevator, new multi-purpose meeting rooms and various site improvements including a splash pad, landscaping, fences, and parking.
The newly re-opened, renovated facility is in complete compliance with current codes, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Secretary of the Interior’s Guidelines for Rehabilitating Historic Buildings, while retaining its historic architecture.
