FleischmanGarcia was retained to design Fire Rescue Station No. 3 by the City of Sarasota.
This 9,280 sq. ft., LEED® certified fire rescue station replaced an existing, 1955 vintage facility on North Adams Drive on St. Armands Key in Sarasota. The hurricane-resistant, two and a half story design complies with FEMA flood-resistant construction requirements.
It includes two apparatus bays and living quarters for eight shift personel. The Key West style was used to harmonize with nearby St. Armands Circle commercial construction. The efficient, 5,120 sq. ft. building footprint was smaller than the original, single-story station, allowing it to fit the very tight site.
